Information we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us through the site’s forms:

• Volunteers — name, email, phone, and the shifts you sign up for.
• Organizations posting opportunities — organization, contact name, email, and event details.
• Scholarship applicants — name, contact details, the information on your application, and any documents you upload (e.g. transcripts, letters).
• Donors & supporters — name and contact details, and the pledge or legacy-giving information you share.
• Anyone who contacts us — whatever you include in a message.

We do not collect payment-card numbers on this website. When online card giving is enabled, payments are processed by a trusted third-party provider on their secure systems; we never see or store full card details.

How we use it

To operate our programs: to schedule and coordinate volunteers, review scholarship and award candidates, acknowledge and steward gifts, and respond to you. We may keep records of gifts, service, and selections for our own administration and required reporting. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Sensitive documents

Documents uploaded with a scholarship application are emailed to our review committee and are not stored on the website or posted publicly. Estate / legacy-giving inquiries are kept in confidence and shared only with the small group at HAP who needs to follow up.

Who we share it with

Only as needed to run the site and our programs — for example, our email-delivery provider, and (for donations) our payment processor — each acting on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law. Volunteer signups are shared with the organizer of the opportunity you signed up for, so they can coordinate with you.

Minors

Scholarship applicants may be students under 18. We ask that a parent or guardian be involved in submitting an application. We collect only what’s needed to evaluate the application.

Cookies

This site uses only the basic cookies WordPress needs to function. We don’t use the site for advertising or third-party tracking. Embedded tools (such as a donation form) may set their own cookies under their own policies.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or unsubscribe from any non-essential email. Just contact us and we’ll help.

Non-discrimination

HAP selects scholarship and award recipients on an objective, nondiscriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, or disability.
